How it works
If you’ve ever sent a parcel abroad or bought something from overseas, you’ll know that customs clearance is a difficult-to-navigate minefield, and costs can quickly add up.
That’s why our professional in-house team of customs handlers is ready to help you with everything you need for a stress-free shipping experience. Our experts have in-depth knowledge of specific customs laws from each country, helping you dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s on your paperwork and ensuring your shipment arrives safely.
Plus, our Dartford HQ became a fully customs-bonded facility in early 2023, meaning we can safely store your belongings in our own warehouse and keep track of them throughout the entire shipping process. You’re in safe hands with Matthew James.

When looking to rent or purchase it may be advisable to do so outside of the busy summer months when prices can rise due to demand. British expats also buy and rent property in the surrounding Malaga province where property can be picked up cheaper and village life allows a quieter lifestyle with the option of popping in to town for the huge selection of museums, art galleries, great bars and restaurants on offer.
There are plenty of Schools to choose from in Malaga. Some of these are based on the British System but they are not regulated by OFSTED. They are regulated by the Junta de Andalucía Consejería de Educación (Junta de Andalucía Education Department). If you would rather send your children to one of the state Schools in Malaga than a private or international school, it would be worth looking at the Junta de Andalucía’s website. This website provides a concise list of state schools in Malaga and all provinces of Andalucía and although in Spanish it is easy to navigate.
British citizens do not require visas to permanently move to Spain. However, within three months of arriving, you should acquire a foreign identity number known as Número de Identidad de Extranjero or NIE, as well as a Tarjeta de Residencia or residency card. You will also need to hold a valid British passport for entry to and exit from Spain.
Non-residents will pay tax on any income arising in Spain; this includes bank interest, business dividend, property income or wages. Income tax rates are similar to the UK’s and range between 24-45%. Further details can be found at expatica.com. You will also continue to receive your UK state pension providing you inform the DWP before your move.
